New version released

It's been a long time coming, but after receiving a lot of mails asking for compatibilty with the 1.27g release of Q3A, I finally managed to devote some time to the Lakerbot again. There aren't any major additions in this version (0.1.5), but it's compatible with the latest release from id. Download link's further down on the page.

About

The Lakerbot is an enhanced bot I'm currently working on for Quake III Arena. My goal is for it to be more challenging and 'pro player'-like than the standard Quake 3 bots. It's primarily intended for one on one play, but should also work fine in the other game modes.

Unlike most of the other bots currently available, the LakerboT uses modified game qvms rather than just altering the settings in the botfiles/ folder.

Among its features the bot is able to track enemies based on the sounds they make, and use different weapons depending on the circumstances (distance to enemy, estimate of enemy's health, etc). There's a full list of features and so on in the bot's readme file, which you can find here.

Download

The latest beta version of the LakerboT is 0.1.5. You can grab it here. Installation is simple, the readme file in the zip explains it.
